Alabama Lodge 179's five charter members were inducted on 9/2/1939 and the lodge was chartered on 6/25/1940. The lodge name was changed to Alibamu for 1949. The name was changed back to Alabama for 2000 for the 60th anniversary of the lodge. The name reverted to Alibamu for 2001 as planned.
