The story of the white panther (lodge totem) was a legend passed down from ancestoral ties about a Chickasaw indian chief (Chief Tallaha) and his loyal animal, a white panther, that roamed the woods of Tallahatchie county looking for his return after the chief's untimely death. Legend tells that the white panther still roams the woods of the old property that was once Camp Tallaha waiting for the indian chief to return. There are multiple references dating back to the mid-1920s that exemplify this legend.
