Name Origin: From Richard Newcombe. Queens District Attomey and President of Queens council, in recognition or his work on bendir or the Queens scouts.
Acquisition: Purchased from part of $1C0,00 raised by the Queens Boy Scout's Sustaining Association in a borough-wide fundraising campaign during the fall of 1928. In June 1929, Queens Bov Scouts planted 13.000 trees in the new weekend camp, 5,000 trees in
dermanent sites. the remonder in a tree nursery.
Weekend Facilities: Cabins. tents and dormitories equipped with cots. siraw-tilled bed sacks, lanterns or electric lights. Outdoor cooking facilities were used at the cabins and tent
