Start Date: Acquired 1957.
End Date: Closed circa 1961-66.
Name Origin: From the Edwin C. Hoyt Farm.
Acquisition: The property was donated to the Greater New York Councils by Mrs. Edwin C.
Hoyt in memory of her husband, Mr. Edwin C. Hoyt. The Hoyt family operated the property as a peach and apple orchard from 1910-1950.
It was turned over to the Scouts in a
ceremony attended by 300 Queens Scouts on May 5, 1957.
How Disposed: Became Hoyt Form Park. a county park in Commack. LI that operates today.
Landmarks: 40 acre conservation area, nature museum, farm silo. 40 acres of the property were described as "original primitive Long Island flora and faung" and was set aside for
conservation study.
