Details from Randy Worcester's Attakapas Council CSP web site:
This is a Special Edition transition Council Shoulder Patch issued by the newly merged Ouachita Valley and Attakapas Councils. The headquarters scout office will be in Monroe, La. with a second office in Alexandria. This patch was made for the Merger committees as a commemorative for their hard work in making this merger happen. Some of these gold mylar bordered patches will be sold to scout historical patch collectors for $10.00 each. 100 patches were issued and no more will be made until the new patch is issued in January 2004 reflecting the final name for the council. This patch has the Attakapas Indian standing to the left in the sunset looking at the grazing Ouachita Valley Deer. The eagle in flight soaring near the horizon represents the spirit of Scouting striving for excellence in the new council. Gold mylar borders the edge of the patch as well as the Boy Scout emblem in the center of the patch. "Ghosted" at the top center of the patch is 12 May 2003, the date of the merger. The lower center has the word "Merged" ghosted into the patch.
