After the 1960 National Jamboree, solid embroidery, or “S” flaps became quite popular. This is because Blue Heron Lodge brought multicolored, solid embroidery flaps to trade, and everyone wanted one. So in 1963, Wyona Lodge issued the S1, its first solid embroidered flap. It was restricted to 2 per year. What differentiates this flap from the similar S2 is the dark brown elk. Despite being made after the F2, which has a rolled edge, this flap has a cut edge. The patch was made by Geer Patch Company and the designer was Dick Faux.
