The lodge approved that these were to be issued one per member at the Christmas Banquet, and only 200 were to be made. A third party acted as a intermediary between the lodge and the company when the flap was produced. It was later discovered that the third party did not turn over all the flaps to the lodge. When placing the order they had ordered more than the approved 200. The lodge was unaware that more had been ordered until the flaps started appearing for sale with increasing frequency years later.
It is possible that as many as 1000 were made.
The original purpose for this flap was to raise money for the lodge building fund.
This patch was the inspiration for the series of Woven patches created by Occoneechee lodge. Frank Day one of the designers was from Occoneechee Lodge 104, and became involved in co-designing this piece when he met Jeff Vernon of Nayawin Rar Lodge at Campbell University
