It was likely a prototype shown to the lodge before an order of the W1 was made with the company. - Wayne Farrar reported that this item was given to him from the Paragon Sample Book. Wayne is well known as having been responsible for getting the 104 YW1s from Paragon when seeking approval to create the first set of lodge 104 wovens. It is credible that Paragon may have kept this item, which appears to be a threadbreak, in their sample book. There is no direct evidence to support the story as reported, and none to disprove it. Y covers prototypes as well as issues of unclear provenance. As this item straddles that line it has been listed as a Y.
