RED segment with WHT arrow
After being over-looked for many years, this patch re-surfaced in 1996 at the Lodge 50th Anniversary banquet on a patch blanket owned by either the first Chief (Marc McDermott) or the 1957 Chief (Steve Cupples). It was related to Steve Gaines and Bill Buchmiler that this patch was used to indicate Lodge membership. This was reportedly confirmed by Holland St. John, who was Lodge Adviser in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. It is still unclear as to what entity distributed the patch, Camp Wallowa, the Council or the Lodge. It should also be noted that other Lodges and Councils produced similar RED/WHT arrow segments for various purposes (including OA membership), and thus provenance of these segments is difficult without either documentation or the context of being sewn on a shirt with other patches.
