Tsoiotsi Tsogalii Lodge 70 was formed in the fall of 1994 from the merger of Tsalagi Lodge 163 with Keyauwee Lodge 70. Keyauwee Lodge was less than three years old having been formed from the merger of Tali Taktaki Lodge 70 and Uwharrie Lodge 208 at the start of 1992. The Old North State Council No. 070 now covered eight counties in north central North Carolina. Since the three original lodges all had histories of over 50 years this new lodge was really considered a merger of those three lodges: Tali Taktaki Lodge 70 (1933 - 1991), Tsalagi Lodge 163 (1939 - 1994) and Uwharrie Lodge 208 (1941 - 1991). The name chosen for the new lodge, Tsoiotsi Tsogalii, was translated from the Cherokee language as "We Three are Friends". Cherokee Scout Reservation located near Yanceyville, NC became the main Boy Scout summer camp for the council and the home of the OA lodge. Tsoiotsi Tsogalii Lodge has had a rich history in its first twenty-five years providing valuable service to the local council, leadership to Section SR-7B and on the national level. The lodge has earned the E. Urner Goodman Camping Award, grants for improvements at camp, and had several Brothers honored with the OA's Distinguished Service Award (DSA).
